Mikado Entertainment System is an adaptation of the complete score of Gilbert & Sullivan's 1885 opera The Mikado to the style of 1980s video game music. For opera lovers, it presents an opportunity to listen to a beloved score as though through new ears. For chiptune aficionados, it is an attempt to provide a familiar window into an exciting and often overlooked era of music. There are a few allusions and jokes that might be of special interest to those with prior knowlege of The Mikado and video games, but no prior experience with either is necessary for appreciation of the album.

This is the first of a potential series of G*bert & Sullinvaders albums, each adapting a different Gilbert & Sullivan opera. The next one is planned to be NES Pinafore, an adaptation of the score of H.M.S. Pinafore.
